DIAMFAB, an innovative company expert in electronic grade diamond
A spin-off of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), DIAMFAB provides the semiconductor industry with the best diamond R&D.

30 years of research and development
The Institut Néel – CNRS’ wide bandgap semiconductor team (SC2G) has been working for 30 years on high-quality synthetic diamond growth for challenging electronic applications. An application-oriented approach that combines diamond growth and device development allowed to acquire a unique expertise and mastery on epitaxial diamond layers qualities and properties. The laboratory was able to reach this scientific excellence thanks to a pugnacious strategy, worldwide collaborations (European and Japanese laboratories mainly) and an important investment of financial and human resources.
Since the Institut Néel is the only lab to master this technology at that level of maturity, it seemed obvious for the founding researchers that there was a unique opportunity to provide raw materials to the labs developing diamond components. This decision is also strategic as it increases the development of diamond components, allowing any structure equipped with clean room facilities to produce them.
Thus, DIAMFAB project was founded in June 2016 in order to highlight those years of research on diamond elaboration for electronic applications. It is the strong belief of the great potential and the future of this technology that engaged the 5 founders (Gauthier, Khaled, David, Julien, and Etienne) to materialize this project by creating the company on March 2019 after two and a half years of maturation and incubation accompanied by the SATT Linksium Grenoble Alpes.
